Third Most Chapter 7’s In Maryland Filed!

Usually I write about or I find important or interesting issues on Bankruptcy and post them on this blog for anyone who happens to drop by the website to see.  Today, however, my post is a little different.  Today it’s about my bankruptcy firm, and yes, I am going to do a little bragging.  I have been practicing bankruptcy law in Maryland for almost 20 years.  In 2005, however, when the laws changed, I stopped doing it for a while.  My thought was that everyone and their mother (sometimes literally) had just filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy in Maryland during that prior year and the amount of people in Maryland to help with bankruptcy’s would be very few in the next few years.  So I changed my practice and concentrated more on Family Law.

But in 2009, shortly after the recession hit full swing, I realized that, with so many people out of work and out on disability and without health insurance, the need for Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy’s in Maryland would soon rise again.  So, in January, 2010, I made the decision to start doing both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy’s again.  While in the past I had used word of mouth and telephone books to attract business, I knew that the internet was now the best way to reach out to the most potential customers.  And, as I have have always done, I keep my prices lower than just about every other firm in Maryland and offer payment plans in all cases.   I hired back Stacy Rogan, an experienced and awesome bankruptcy attorney who had joined another firm a few years back, and Kenny Brayboy, simply the greatest and most dedicated bankruptcy paralegal in the world, and I opened up what we now call the Maryland Bankruptcy Center.

The reason why we are so excited this week is because there is a website, call 722redemption.com, that tracks the number of Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases filed by all law firms in the United States.   Between June and September, 2011, we filed close to 82 Chapter 7 cases, which is the third most among bankruptcy law firms in the state of Maryland.  Since our prices are lower, our profit clearly isn’t as much, but that’s quite alright with us.  Our service is spetacular and although we are not getting rich, we are able to make a nice living filing bankruptcy’s for Marylanders and provide a great, and necessary service, at affordable prices, at the same time.
